One of the nurse's most important functions is providing education and training to our patients, families and caregivers regarding their illness, disease or disability. This individualized training, in the privacy and security of the patient's home, greatly assists the patient and family in the achievement of self care behaviors that lead to an optimal level of independent functioning and health maintenance.
Physical Therapy - assess and treat functional impairments that result from injury, stroke, surgery, fractures or other medical conditions.
North Home Healthcare offers professional physical therapy services including gait training utilizing various assistive devices, ultrasound therapy, and therapeutic exercises designed to strengthen and improve joint range of motion or to prevent joint contractures due to muscular disease. Our Physical Therapists and Physical Therapy Assistants provide individualized patient education in transfer techniques and the use of adaptive equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, crutches and Hoyer lifts. They also provide instruction to our patients and caregivers on long-term exercise programs designed to improve the patient's level of independence.
Medical Social Worker - assess social and emotional factors that influence the outcome of home care, and they assist in resolving these problems.
North Home Healthcare offers professional social worker services that evaluate the social and emotional factors affecting ill and disabled individuals as well as provide counseling. They also help patients and their family members identify available community resources. Social Workers often serve as case managers when a patient's condition is so complex that a professional needs to assess their medical and supportive needs and coordinate a variety of services.
Speech & Occupational Therapy - evaluate and treat speech communications and swallowing disorders. Occupational therapists develop and supervise individualized programs that restore functional skills such as bathing, eating, writing and other daily living activities.

• NHHC's Speech Therapist help to develop and restore the speech of individuals with communication disorders that may result from traumas such as surgery or stroke. Our Speech Therapists also help retrain patients in breathing, swallowing and muscle control.

• NHHC's Occupational Therapist provide services that include evaluation of the patient's functional abilities, teaching task-oriented therapeutic activities to restore physical function, teaching activities of daily living (eating, bathing, dressing and basic household routines), and energy conservation to improve the patient's level of independence, as well as instruction on the use of self-help devices. Our Occupational Therapy staff help individuals who have physical, developmental, social or emotional problems that prevent them from performing the general activities of daily living

Home Health Aide - provide personal care and assist with treatments under the direction of the registered nurse.
North Home Healthcare's Home Health Aides are trained to provide and assist the patient with personal care including bathing, dressing, grooming, hair care, oral hygiene, and nail care. In addition to these basic needs, Home Health Aides also assist with feeding, elimination, routine catheter and ostomy care, ambulation and transfers, simple dressing changes and skin care.
